The transFAIR project is developed as a possible solution to varied problems and needs, which was identified through the completion of the Leonardo da Vinci project “FAIRstart”.
More than 90.000 European children are in public custody in institutions or foster families. They are a high risk group. They may have living parents, but their parents face poverty, migration, drugs, and are unable to care for them. As EU citizens, these children have basic rights: good professional care and human relations, a secure base, and opportunities for learning basic social and emotional skills. The best results of caregiving (brain development, social function, later school and education) are produced if you improve caregiving practices for young children - from birth to age three.
The transFAIR project was aimed at further development og the FAIRstart training materials so it can be used by both foster parents and staff at institutions.
